SHC of Galion hosts ‘Snowflake Ball’

February was a great month for us here at Signature HealthCARE of Galion. We are loving being a part of the healthcare revolution. The highlight of the month for most of us was the Snowflake Ball.

The elders and staff hand-made most decorations, and we really enjoyed ourselves. One of the best moments of the Snowflake Ball was when Tom requested ‘I Will Always Love You,’ by Whitney Houston. He then got out of his wheelchair and danced with his wife. His daughter and mother-in-law were also here. There was not a dry eye to be found.

State Inspectors were here and it brought tears to their eyes, even though they did not know the couple. It was one of the most touching moments I have ever been a part of. We also had a resident attend that had never participated in an activity here. When I let her family know that she had participated, they were shocked. She had been at a facility prior to this one for over 10 years and had never once left her room. It is moments like these that make me realize that I have the best job ever.

While at the Snowflake Ball, the majority of the elders confided that they had never got to go to a prom or ball when they were in school. Most of them had already married, were working, or taking care of family members. For this reason, we are doing a themed dance every month. We are also going to have a prom, which the elders are very much looking forward to.
