Special Message from our Chaplain

At Signature HealthCARE of Galion, we are happy to have our Spirituality Director provide our community inspiration. Thank you for all that you do to serve others in our community!

Our EXPERIENCE almost always works against our FAITH. We are designed to BELIEVE what we hear and hear repeatedly (Santa Clause) unless there is a conflicting report; that can come from our own sense-knowledge and experience, or a dissonant (differing) voice. A trusted or authoritative voice (right or wrong) can supplant a belief that is formed over a time period of perceiving through a different lens (Yes, Virginia, there IS a Santa Claus).

Live Fully on Purpose

He (Jesus) said to the fig tree, “Let no one ever eat fruit from you ever again!”

Immediately, the tree began to wither and die from the roots up. It had no more PURPOSE for being.

None of us is random; we are all preconceived by God for a specific PURPOSE. Yet so many believe they are products of chance or evolution. Anyone who is living without a PURPOSE is not truly living. Like the barren fig tree, they are defenseless to a sometimes hostile environment. They are subject to the shifting winds of a negative culture, peer pressure, “Murphy’s Law,” or even the bitter fruit of their own poor judgments.

Hero’s Journey – James Burke

James Burks arrived at SHC of Galion after experiencing multiple medical complications. He had initially received a right hip fracture after experiencing a fall down approximately 14 steps. However, after his right hip pins became loose he underwent a right total hip arthroplasty. Unfortunately, the right hip arthroplasty became infected and required revision. James received extensive nursing care as well as Physical and Occupational Therapies. He stated, “Initially I didn’t care and didn’t think I would get better. However, if you stick with it, you’ll do well here. Everyone here made me feel at home and taught me a lot about my well-being. I felt that I got better spiritually, physically, and emotionally.”

Hero’s Journey – Bert Stewart

Bert Stewart arrived to SHC of Galion after experiencing multiple medical complications.  He was admitted with a recommendation of NPO, meaning he couldn’t eat or drink anything by mouth.  Bert stated that when he arrived, he felt “weak, run downed, and on my last leg”.   During his therapeutic stay, he received physical, occupational, and speech/dysphagia therapies in addition to nursing care.  He enjoyed therapy, especially the NuStep and exercising with the weights; although, he stated the “weights are heavier when you’re weak”.   Upon his discharge, Bert walked out of the facility and is able to tolerate foods and liquids by mouth with some restrictions. He is excited about returning home to family and his vegetable garden.
